UIPD joins with NAACP of Champaign County to adopt shared principles

URBANA, Ill. – The University of Illinois Police Department and the NAACP Champaign County Branch will exhibit a set of shared principles designed to build trust between police and communities of color. The ceremony will take place on Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. at the University of Illinois Police Department, 1110 W. Springfield Ave., Urbana. UIPD officers undergo immersive active shooter training

URBANA, Ill. – Every University of Illinois Police officer will have trained in the national standard for active shooter response by the beginning of the 2019 school year. This week and next, everyone from the police chief and command staff to new recruits, detectives and crime prevention officers will undergo Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT), widely recognized as one of the best research-based trainings available to police. UIPD releases 2019 Year In Review

URBANA, Ill. – The University of Illinois Police Department on Monday released its 2019 Year In Review, which details some of the biggest trends, initiatives, public safety issues and other items of interest throughout the previous school year. Public Notice: Juvenile records for years 2013-2015 expunged

Public notice is hereby given that the University of Illinois Police Department has completed the expungement of all eligible juvenile records created in 2013, 2014 and 2015, in accordance with Public Act 100-1162 of the state of Illinois. Why are we issuing this notice? In 2018, the state of Illinois approved Public Act 100-1162, which requires that law enforcement agencies automatically expunge all eligible juvenile records from the years 2013 through 2017. New vehicle joins UIPD fleet

URBANA, Ill. – The University of Illinois Police Department has added a new vehicle to its fleet that will make it easier for officers to get around and stay visible during special events like football games and parades. The new Polaris Ranger utility task vehicle (UTV) is smaller and more nimble than a typical police squad car and will be able to go places that a full size sport utility vehicle cannot.
