One juvenile arrested in Tuesday evening robbery

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — University of Illinois Police officers responded to a report of an armed robbery Tuesday evening.

At approximately 5:33 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, University Police officers responded to the 400 block of East Healey Street, Champaign, for a reported armed robbery. Officers arrived on scene in less than two minutes.

Officers spoke with the victim, who reported that they were taken into the alleyway by the suspects, who implied they had a gun and then robbed the victim. 

Additional officers immediately began searching the surrounding area while Real-Time Information Center analysts reviewed security camera footage to locate the suspects.

The four suspects were located and detained shortly afterward at 616 E. Green St., Champaign. No firearms were recovered.

One juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center on preliminary charges of aggravated robbery, mob action and possession of stolen property. The other three juveniles were released to their guardians and referred to the Youth Assessment Center. All four juveniles received letters of no trespass barring them from all University of Illinois property.

Due to the ages of the victim and offenders, no further details regarding the investigation will be released.
